Is self-care a necessary part of wellness, or is it a luxury that you try to "squeeze in" from time to time?
Sometimes starting a new health or wellness goal can be the hardest part. One trick is to do something that is self-nurturing and feels good to help you get started. Many people see the importance of caring for other people but neglect caring for themselves. Just like muscles need a recovery period before they should be worked again, our stressed-out selves may need to recover before we add in a new challenge.

If your body feels physically sore or tired, choose something that would help it feel nurtured. Some ideas could be:
Hydrating
Light stretching
Getting more sleep
Getting a massage
Taking a bath
Giving your skin some love (moisturize, exfoliate...)
Basking in the warm sun (but still protecting yourself from UV)
If you’re feeling emotionally stressed, consider
Practicing self-compassion exercises
Going for a light walk
Yoga
Aromatherapy
If your soul is feeling neglected, some of these activities may help
Spending time in nature
Doing something creative (artwork, cooking, gardening...)
Spending time with a friend
Listening to your favorite music
Spiritual and/or religious practice
Reading
Learning — YouTube videos can be a great resource. Feel stimulated by learning something new and fix that neglected clogged drain at the same time!
Modifying the aesthetics of your environment. This could include decluttering, creating ambiance, or finding beauty in your surroundings.
It may seem counter-intuitive, but sometimes stepping away from our goal and making time for self-care can inspire us to be even more productive.
